Connect Google Search Console and GA4 to Windsurf (now Devin Desktop)

Windsurf has been renamed Devin Desktop, and its docs now live at docs.devin.ai. To connect Search Console and GA4, add https://mcp.rankgaroo.com/mcp to the MCP config file as serverUrl, or run devin mcp add rankgaroo https://mcp.rankgaroo.com/mcp and then devin mcp login rankgaroo. Sign in with Google in the browser. Devin Desktop supports OAuth for each transport type. All five Rankgaroo tools are read-only.

Legacy Cascade agent: click the ... (Actions) menu at the top right of the Cascade panel, find the MCPs section, and click the icon for Open MCP config file.

Add this to mcp_config.json (the page accepts serverUrl or url):

Save the file and return to the Cascade panel. Follow the sign-in prompt if one appears.

Devin CLI or Devin Local: run

devin mcp login rankgaroo. A browser opens for sign-in.

The CLI command devin mcp login rankgaroo opens your browser on the Rankgaroo consent page, which names the app. Click Continue to Google. Google then asks for read-only Search Console and Analytics access, and you can untick either one. The docs do not show the sign-in screens inside Devin Desktop for a URL server.

What you need

The docs list no plan requirement for MCP.
On Team plans, admins can turn MCP off or allowlist servers. If one server is allowlisted, all others are blocked.
On Enterprise, users must turn MCP on manually.
Check which agent you use. The Cascade config page applies only to the legacy Cascade agent. Devin Local uses the Devin CLI config.

Each client keeps its own OAuth session. Signing in through the Devin CLI does not sign in Devin Desktop. Whether Devin Desktop's Devin Local screen reuses the CLI login is not documented.
Cascade allows at most 100 tools at once and has no one-click marketplace. Rankgaroo adds five tools.
The Devin CLI docs mention Dynamic Client Registration but not Client ID Metadata Documents. Rankgaroo supports both.

Is the Rankgaroo connection in Windsurf read-only?

Yes, the Rankgaroo connection in Windsurf is read-only. Google's screen asks only for read-only Search Console and Analytics access, and you can untick either one. The five tools are whoami, gsc_list_properties, gsc_search_analytics, ga4_list_properties and ga4_run_report. None of them can change your data.

Why doesn't Windsurf show the Rankgaroo tools?
