Connect Google Search Console and GA4 to Claude

To connect Search Console and GA4 to Claude, add Rankgaroo as a custom connector. Open Customize, then Connectors, click Add custom connector, and enter https://mcp.rankgaroo.com/mcp. Click Connect and sign in with Google. One connector covers Claude.ai and Claude Desktop, because Claude connects from Anthropic's servers. The phone app can use it too, but you add it on the web first.

Steps

Open Claude on the web (claude.ai) or in Claude Desktop. Select Customize in the sidebar, then Connectors.
Click Add custom connector. On older layouts it is under + Add, then Add custom connector. On Team or Enterprise, an Owner goes to Organization settings > Connectors, clicks Add, then Custom, and picks Web if asked.
Enter the name Rankgaroo and the server URL https://mcp.rankgaroo.com/mcp. If you see an OAuth client option, choose Use Claude's published identity (recommended). Register automatically also works.
Click Add.
Click Connect on the Rankgaroo connector (or pick Sign in now when adding it). Team and Enterprise members find the connector with the Custom label under Customize > Connectors and click Connect there.
In a chat, click + in the message box, then Connectors, and switch Rankgaroo on.

Clicking Connect opens the Rankgaroo consent page, which names Claude as the app asking for access. Click Continue to Google. Google then asks for read-only Search Console and Analytics access, and you can untick either one. On claude.ai the page opens in the same tab. In Claude Desktop it opens in your system browser.

What you need

A Claude plan that allows custom connectors: Free, Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise. Free is limited to one custom connector.
Team plan: only Owners and Primary Owners can add the connector for the organization. Members then click Connect with their own account.
Enterprise plan: Owners, Primary Owners, or a custom role with Manage access to Libraries can add it.
A Google account that can see your Search Console and GA4 properties.

Good to know

Do not use claude_desktop_config.json for this. That file is for local servers. Remote connectors are set up in your Claude account.
The connection is made from Anthropic's cloud, not from your device. Mobile works the same way.
Mobile: add the connector on the web or Desktop first. It then appears the next time you log in on Claude for iOS or Android. Adding connectors on mobile is in beta, and web and Desktop remain the main path.
You cannot edit the connector's auth settings after adding it. Remove it and add it again.
Claude asks before using a tool: Allow once or Always allow. Per-tool choices live under Customize > Connectors > select the connector > Tool permissions: Always allow, Needs approval or Blocked.

Does Claude support custom MCP connectors on the free plan?

Claude's free plan supports custom connectors, but only one at a time. Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans have no such single-connector limit in the docs we checked. On Team and Enterprise, an admin has to add the connector first.

Is the Rankgaroo connection in Claude read-only?

Yes, the Rankgaroo connection in Claude is read-only. Google's screen asks only for read-only Search Console and Analytics access, and you can untick either one. The five tools are whoami, gsc_list_properties, gsc_search_analytics, ga4_list_properties and ga4_run_report. None of them can change your data.

Can I use Rankgaroo in the Claude mobile app?

You can use the Rankgaroo connector in the Claude mobile app once it is added to your account. Add it on the web or in Claude Desktop, then log in on iOS or Android. Claude's docs describe adding connectors on mobile as a beta.

Why doesn't Claude show the Rankgaroo tools in my chat?

Claude shows the Rankgaroo tools only after the connector is signed in and switched on for the chat. Check Customize > Connectors for a Connect button, then use + > Connectors in the message box to turn Rankgaroo on. If it still fails, remove the connector and add it again.

How do I get access to Rankgaroo while it is in beta?

Rankgaroo is in a private beta, so access is by invite from the beta list. Join the list on the Rankgaroo site and we will send an invite when a spot opens.
