Google Analytics MCP alternative: Rankgaroo vs Google Analytics MCP
Quick answer
Google publishes its own MCP server for Google Analytics. It is Apache-2.0, runs locally and uses your own Google Cloud project and credentials. Rankgaroo is hosted instead, so remote-MCP apps such as Claude web and ChatGPT can connect, and it adds Search Console next to GA4. Google's server has more GA4 tools, including funnel, realtime and conversions reports. Rankgaroo fits when you want GA4 and Search Console in one hosted, read-only connection; Google Analytics MCP fits when you want official, local, GA4-only tooling.
Key differences:
- Rankgaroo is hosted; Google's server runs locally on your machine.
- Rankgaroo needs only a Google sign-in; Google's server needs your own Google Cloud project with the Analytics APIs enabled.
- Google's server is GA4 only with 9 tools; Rankgaroo covers GA4 with 2 tools and adds Search Console.

The README labels the project Experimental. The repo is active: release 0.8.0 shipped on 2026-10-22.
Google's docs page says the server is available for read requests only. The README describes an opt-in --allow-write flag that adds an annotation tool. Both statements apply: reads are the default.
When to pick Rankgaroo

- You need funnel, realtime or conversions reports.
- You want account summaries, property details, Google Ads links, annotations or custom dimension lookup.
- You want a server from Google itself, with its source code in a public repo.
- You want everything to run on your machine with credentials that you control.
Questions
Is the Google Analytics MCP server free?
Google publishes it as open source under Apache-2.0. Terms for the Google APIs it calls are on Google's developer site. We do not compare prices on this page.
Is the Google Analytics MCP server read-only?
By default, yes. Google's docs say it is available for read requests only, and it uses the analytics.readonly scope. The README adds an opt-in --allow-write flag for one write tool.
Does the Google Analytics MCP server support Search Console?
No. It covers the GA4 Admin API and Data API. Rankgaroo includes both GA4 and Search Console.
Is there a hosted version of Google's Analytics MCP server?
We found none. Google's docs describe a local server started on your machine, and the Google Cloud list of remote MCP products does not include Analytics. Rankgaroo is a hosted option.
