How to see your search traffic by country in Search Console
Direct answer
To see Search Console traffic by country, open Performance, switch to the Countries tab and read clicks, impressions, CTR and position for each country over your chosen dates. Add Compare to see which countries grew. Read CTR and position beside impressions, because a country with many impressions can still send few clicks. Rankgaroo lets an AI fetch the table, rank it and compare two periods.

Do it by handAsk your AI insteadWorked exampleLimits to knowQuestionsRelated guidesYou want to know which countries send your search traffic, and whether that matches who you write for. Search Console shows it on one tab, but the useful part is comparing countries by CTR and position, not only by clicks.
The ranking by clicks is rarely the ranking by impressions, and the gap between the two is where the story is.
Do it by hand in Search Console
- In Search Console, open Performance → Search results and set the date range, for example the last 28 days.
- Tick Total clicks, Total impressions, Average CTR and Average position.
- Select the Countries tab and sort by Clicks, then by Impressions.
- Open the date filter and use Compare to add the previous period, then read the difference per country.
- Click a country row to filter on it, then open the Pages and Queries tabs to see what works there.
- Use + Add filter → Country when you want to keep one country applied across all tabs.
Once you filter on a country you see one country at a time, so comparing the top queries or pages across several countries means repeating the filter for each.

Show my Search Console traffic by country for sc-domain:example.com, 2026-09-25 to 2026-10-22. List the top 10 countries by clicks with impressions, CTR and average position. Compare with 2026-08-28 to 2026-09-24, tell me which countries gained or lost clicks, and point out countries with many impressions but a low CTR.

What the answer says
The United States sent 4,210 of the site's 14,820 clicks (28%) from 268,400 impressions, a 1.6% CTR at position 14.2. Its impressions rose 11% (from 241,900) while clicks fell 9.1%. India has the second most impressions (98,700) but a 1.1% CTR at position 21.3, and Japan is lower still at 0.9%. Germany grew 12.6%, which fits the new /de/ templates starting to rank. The table says where the traffic is, not why. The language of your pages and the queries in each country are the next things to check.
Limits to know
- Search Console returns country as a three-letter code such as deu or usa. The AI maps the codes to names.
- Search Console counts clicks from search results by the country where the search was made. GA4 counts sessions by visitor location across every channel, so the two will not match.
- A country's average position blends all its queries and pages. Filter to one query or page for a cleaner read.
- Rows come from the top results Search Console exposes, and rare anonymized queries are left out, so country rows can sum to slightly less than the site total.
Questions
How do I see Search Console traffic by country?
Open Performance → Search results, set the date range and select the Countries tab. Each row shows clicks, impressions, CTR and average position for that country. Turn on Compare to see how each country changed against an earlier period.
Why does a country with many impressions send so few clicks?
Many impressions with few clicks means a low CTR. Common reasons are a lower average position, results in a language your page does not match, or searches the results page answers by itself. Search Console shows CTR and position per country, so you can test the first reason. The others need a look at the live results from that country.
Is Search Console country data the same as GA4 country data?
No. Search Console counts clicks from search results by where the search happened. GA4 counts sessions from all channels by visitor location, so GA4 totals are usually higher and the ranking of countries can differ.
Can I filter Search Console to one country?
Yes. In Performance → Search results, click + Add filter, choose Country and pick the country. The filter then applies to the Queries, Pages and Devices tabs, so you can see what drives traffic from that country.
